Ceremonial Chalk Drawing for Veterans and the Global Village In 2011 we went to Florida and created a 125ft. x 40ft. interactive chalk drawing. The goal and experiment was to connect Art and Ceremony to the military as a way of healthy integration back into society as a valuable asset to the community. Sale on KOSS Chalk! We are often asked about what chalk we use, and where to get it. KOSS is some of the best chalk out there, most festivals in the USA use it. Drawing on Earth mainly works in schools, community, and special events. We have found a box of 24 colors is the best and gives people a solid mix of colors to work with. The box of 12 lacks the diversity and the box of 48 is too many unless you are a pro. We just bought approx. 2,400 pieces of chalk. 8 doz. cases (a dozen in each case) of the 24. Venezuela and the Beginning of a Global Story
In 2009 I received an email from the Especialista en Gestión Cultural (Specialist of Cultural Management) at the Institute of the Arts of the Image and the Space (Instituto de las Artes de la Imagen y el Espacio), Caracas, Venezuela. They invited me to create a large 2D community chalk drawing. It was an awesome experience! We had 800 kids the first day, in total we had a total of 1,500 people creatively working together. This was also the launch of a larger project which is to create the World's Largest Illustrated Story, attempting another Guinness World Record (we already have one for the largest chalk drawing). That Makes 1,200 Butterflies
Drawing on Earth's VISION STATEMENT: Growing evolving healthy loving children and adults who are connected to them selves, each other, and to their environment through the cultivation of a creative mind, body, heart, and soul. Butterflies Are Free A month ago we worked with 1,200 elementary school kids at 2 different schools. The first one was at Valhalla Elementary school. www.drawingonearth.org/donate Mark Lewis Wagner started chalk drawing/street painting in 1994 at the I Madonnari Italian Street Festival in Santa Barbara. This lead to years of other festivals and then to drawing with children at his kid''s elementary school, and that lead to a Guinness World Record, and to the creation of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Drawing on Earth. Our mission is to passionately connect art and creativity to youth and communities around the world. Wagner and Drawing on Earth has created chalk drawings with over 12,000 kids and adults, and on 3 continents so far, in dozens of festivals, worked with Veterans, and in the commercial and corporate worlds.
